301271_67238752Ever arrived home at night, knowing that you have some more work to get done, and realise you’ve left a vital file on the desktop of your work PC? Well, that might be just a sign that you need to put your feet up and relax… but, if the file really needs to be retrieved, you can avoid having to drive back into the office. If you are the lucky user of a Small Business Server, you are able to use a valuable feature called “Remote Web Workplace” (RWW) to access that file.

To access RWW, open up Internet Explorer and type in your SBS server’s internet address. This will normally be in the format “http://mail.mycompany.com.au/remote” (but feel free to ask us if you’re not sure of your server’s internet address). You will then need to type in your username and password.

The very first time you access RWW, you may be prompted to install an ActiveX control. You will need to install this in order for RWW to work.

Once authenticated, you will be presented with a Remote Web Workplace screen from where you can log onto your workstation, check your email or various other options depending on what permissions you have been granted. For security reasons, you will need to log in again to access your particular workstation.

If you have any concerns or queries about using RWW, don’t hesitate to ask!
