In your Outlook 2003 inbox, you can generally see a list of emails and various information about that email – such as who the email is from, the subject, and what date/time it was received. If there is other information you would like to see listed beside each of your emails (eg. its size) there is a way to customize which “fields” you view.
1. Right click on the grey bar which lists all your fields (eg. From, Subject, Received)
2. Select Customize Current View from the list of options.
3. Click on Fields.
4. If there any fields you would like to add to your view, highlight them in the Available fields: list and click on the Add button. They will then move to the Show these fields in this order: list.
(Conversely, if there are any fields you want to take out of your current view, highlight the item on the Show these fields in this order: list and click on the Remove button)
5. If you want to change the order in which the fields appear, highlight which field you want to move in the Show these fields in this order: list and click on the Move Up or Move Down buttons.
6. Click OK to save your changes.
As a default, emails are usually listed in order of the date that they are received. You can change this view so that your emails are grouped by another category, such as who the emails were sent by. On the grey field bar, simply click once on whichever field you want your emails to be ordered by (eg. From) and the emails will be reordered. This is helpful if you want to find an email from a particular person. You can easily switch back to your date view by clicking on the Received field of your tool bar.
This field customization works in any of your email folders, such as your Inbox or Sent Items folder.
