697993_trash_bin_fullIt’s a good idea to keep an eye on your Junk Mail and Spam filtering folders in Outlook, just in case a legitimate email slips through the cracks. As spammers get increasingly sophisticated with their spamming techniques, it can take a little while for the spam filtering software to catch up and sometimes you might notice spam in your Inbox, or perfectly legitimate emails in your Junk Mail folder. What should you do if you notice a ‘real’ email in your spam filter?

1. Open up your Junk Mail folder in Outlook 2003 and right click on the email in question.

2. Select Junk E-Mail from the list.

3a. If you always want to receive mail from this particular sender, select Add Sender to the Safe Senders list. The email won’t automatically be moved to your Inbox.

3b. Alternatively, select Mark as Not Junk and a message should pop up saying the email has been moved to your inbox. If you always want to receive mail from this particular sender, tick the box that says Always Trust Emails from [sender] and then press OK.

If you notice a random spam message in your inbox, you can:

1. Right click on the email in question.

2. Select Junk E-Mail from the list.

3. If you never want to receive mail from this particular sender, select Add Sender to the Blocked Senders list. The email should automatically be moved to your Junk email folder.
